Lactose
Find Allergy Clinics »
Lactose is a sugar product that can be found naturally in all milk and dairy products. In order for the body to properly digest this sugar, the intestinal system must contain a specific enzyme called lactase. Some people do not have the ability to produce this enzyme in their body and are what is called lactose intolerant. If they do happen to ingest milk or dairy products they will invariably suffer from symptoms including cramps, bloating in the abdomen, wind, nausea and headache.
