Going Abroad for a Body Lift

Find Body Lift Clinics in London & UK »

There is a growing popularity for patients to choose to go abroad for their cosmetic surgery. Medical trips can result in the same procedure being carried out at a lower price than in the UK, but you need to be very careful and fully research the clinic/surgery that you intend to use. You should also be sure to give yourself enough time to visit the clinic/surgery and talk to your surgeon. This is due to the different medical (and living) standards in foreign countries although you also need to ensure that any difference in language is not a barrier to mutual understanding between yourself and your surgeon.

Booking body lift surgery abroad

Booking a consultation in a foreign country will involve the same sort of searches as for booking a consultation in the UK. In the event that you have been suggested going abroad by a friend who had a procedure carried out somewhere, make sure that you do your own research on the clinic too. It is all very well being told about an amazing plastic surgeon in 'Wagalolo' but if they have spent the last 20 years doing breast implants, they may not be the best person to carry out your body lift surgery. So, whilst you should take advantage of any contacts and recommendations that you have by asking them lots of questions, you should also ensure that the contacts are specific for body lift surgery.

Risks of going abroad for body lift surgery

Going abroad will mean that you will need to pay special attention to your travel and medical insurance! So, whilst this option could allow you to reduce the overall cost of your surgery, it comes with additional risks and would require more organisation. You might even have to plan for multiple trips out to you country of choice if, after the initial consultation, your surgeon suggested that you wait for a few more months (perhaps to loose more weight) before going ahead with the surgery. You would also need to be aware that surgeons in other countries could have lower standards of care/training. This could compromise your safety during the operation so you need to ask lots of questions about their qualifications and standards (as well as the qualifications and standards of those assisting the surgeon during the procedure). With this in mind, it would be unwise to go on a medical holiday to get a body lift simply because the UK surgeons were unwilling to operate on you. The UK surgeons may be complying with UK standards in order to postpone your procedure to ensure your safety!
