Cosmetic Surgeons & Accreditation

Find Cosmetic Surgeons in London & UK »

Another way is to check the reliability and research the qualifications of your surgeon is through a Surgical Accreditation Board such as BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) or BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons). You can ask your consultant if they are members of either of these organisations, or you can contact them directly. The contact details for both are included below, and their help lines of websites include a good deal of information on their member clinics or surgeons.

Accredited cosmetic surgeons

A BAAPS or BAPRAS member is required to undergo a thorough routine of training and tests to qualify for and remain eligible for membership, and they also guarantee that their members have registration with the GMC.

The General Medical Council and Cosmetic Surgeons

All surgeons and doctors that operate within the UK must be registered with the General Medical Council, and this includes cosmetic or plastic surgeons. To be registered the professional must submit to yearly checks on their performance as well as committing to an ongoing program of training to ensure extremely high standards of clinical excellence and hygiene standards.
