The actual procedure for Otoplasty normally only takes 45 minutes to one hour, depending on how much work needs to be done on your ears.  In this time you will either be under a general or a local anaesthetic, depending on choices made by you and your surgeon in your consultations.  After the surgery you will be able to go home and start to recover.  You will have to take painkillers and wear a head bandage for a week after your ear surgery, and this time ought to be taken off work.  After this your ears might need further stability in the form of a headband for another few weeks.  Overall the recovery period could take up to six weeks to complete.
