There are very few risks associated with cauterisation for skin tag removal, however there are a few things that you should be aware of before undergoing the treatment.  Your practitioner will talk in depth about the process and any problems that could occur due to cauterisation, and if you have any concerns it would be a good idea to address them during your consultation session.   Some risks include:

• Pain during or after the procedure
• Scarring, especially if you suffer from keloid scarring
• Skin irritation
• The surrounding skin being affected due to the high heat being used
• Infection

These risks are very small, and there is little chance of any problems during the procedure if your practitioner is properly qualified and has previous experience.
