There is only a very minimal risk that you skin tag could be something more sinister, and there are signs to look out for.  If your skin tag is an unusual colour, blue or black, is particularly large, continues to grow, bleeds or is very painful then it would be a good idea to get it investigated through a biopsy.  It is very unlikely that your skin tag will be a cancerous problem.  However, for peace of mind, having it looked at will ensure that you are at no risk. Skin tumours will often appear as a dark growth, constantly bleeding with no sign of improvement.  If your skin tag assumes any of these characteristics then it would be a good idea to seek medical help.  It is likely that your GP will conduct a biopsy to ensure that you are at no risk from any cancers.
