Viagra Contraindications

Before going ahead with Viagra it is important to know and understand the contraindications which could further cause further risks to your health. The best way to assess whether you are well enough to go ahead with this medication is if you speak to your GP as they can then look into your medical history both current and past to be able to see whether if you have a higher risk of suffering from the side effects which Viagra could potentially cause.

Health Factors that affect Viagra

Below are just some of the many health factors which possibly cause extra problems when taking Viagra. If you suffer from any of these health conditions then you should refrain from using the drug, or at the very least use it with extreme caution and with plenty of guidance from a medical expert.

  • If you have taken or are currently taking any sort of nitrates. This is because mixing the two medications could cause a potentially fatal fall in blood pressure. Nitrates can be found in angina and chest pain medication and even recreational drugs like ‘poppers’.
  • You should take a lower dose of Viagra if you regulate high blood pressure by using beta blockers. This is because blood pressure tablets and Viagra when used together could cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure and also lead to fainting.
  • If you have sight disorders such as problems with your retina you should try to avoid Viagra, as its side effects can potentially cause further damage to your eyes.
  • Checking all of the ingredients of Viagra before taking it is extremely important. This is because you may be allergic to one of the ingredients in the drug which could then increase your chances of having more serious side effects from the medication.
  • You should never take Viagra whilst taking other drugs for your erectile dysfunction such as Levitra.

It is also important to tell your GP if you suffer from any health conditions like serious heart problems, sickle cell anaemia, and Peyronie’s disease or if you suffer from blood clots. It is always better to tell your GP too much information rather than too little as taking Viagra whilst having other serious health conditions could potentially be fatal.
