Xenical Contraindication

Xenical is a form of medication which is used to treat obesity by causing an increase in weight loss and a decrease in body fat. It works by preventing your body from absorbing fat which your digestive system would otherwise absorb from the food which you eat. Xenical makes it easier for you to reduce your weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

If you are overweight or obese it is most likely because you are consuming more calories than your body can use up. Your body uses calories as energy for aerobic respiration. Your body uses the energy from calories for physical exercise, digestion and maintaining your body temperature for example. If you do not do enough physical exercise then left over calories are stored as fat around your muscles, internal organs or arteries. This fat build-up can be unattractive and possibly increase your risk of health problems.

Xenical reduces weight gain by limiting the amount of fat and calories which your body absorbs (those calories which you would otherwise not be using.

Xenical is contraindicated in:

  • Malabsorption
  • If your pregnant or if you are breastfeeding
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Reduced gallbladder function

You should only use Xenical with caution if you have:

  • Impaired liver function
