REM Sleep

REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement). This occurs at various points during the night and increases in length as the night progresses. It is a lighter sleep than NREM sleep and if the sleeper is woken during this stage then they may often remember a dream. It is also common for people to enter into sleep at this stage should they be extremely tired and catching up on sleep. REM sleep is just as important as NREM sleep as it allows the mind to work through various problems, stresses and issues that may be worrying us in our everyday life.
