Cosmetic surgery has been an established practice for many years now, with popular treatments regularly performed for people looking to alter anything from minor flaws and blemishes to whole facial features and body parts.

In 2012 43,172 cosmetic treatments were performed according to a report from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), and a recent report from Kelo-cote, a brand responsible for cosmetic scar treatments, suggests that a staggering million Britons are considering elective cosmetic surgeries in 2014. But which treatments are proving the most popular?

Tummy Tucks – This simple procedure aims to remove excess skin which can often remain after the loss of large amounts of weight or, in some cases, a pregnancy. The procedure is referred to as an abdominoplasty professionally, but is more often known as a tummy tuck.

Brachioplasty – The brachioplasty is less flatteringly referred to as 'bingo wing' surgery, and is the reduction or removal of unwanted, ageing skin from under the arms. The result is tighter skin in the area and more youthful looking arms.

Breast surgery – Breast augmentations, uplifts, and reductions remain staples of the cosmetic industry and will undoubtedly remain a popular choice in 2014. A variety of breast enhancement techniques are now available offering more choice in this particular area than ever before.

Vaginoplasty and labiaplasty – Perhaps a slightly less well known, and yet none-the-less popular, procedure is the vaginoplasty. This is in fact one of the most fast growing surgeries in the UK as more and more women look to alter or reduce the appearance of their vaginas. The vaginaplasty involves tightening the vagina, while the labiaplasty aims to either remodel or reduce the size of the labia minora.
