IVF Abortion Figures Shock

Fertility experts have expressed shock and concern as post-IVF abortion figures have been released showing that over 80 British women are having terminations every year following successful fertility treatment. The findings showed that women opting for NHS abortions following expensive fertility treatment were likely to have split from their partners or become overwhelmed by the perceived pressures of prospective motherhood.

Further information revealed that over 50% of the post-IVF terminations involved young women aged between 18 and 34 - a group less likely to experience medical complications that could impair the health of their unborn children.

Mohamed Taranissi, a prominent fertility doctor, has led calls for the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority to share further information on the trend for post-IVF terminations.

Fertility experts and others shocked by the news have called for further inquiries into the practice that could see regulations developed to counter the trend for post-IVF abortions.
