Diabetes & Auto-immune Destruction

Diabetes is caused by the auto-immune destruction of your insulin producing beta cells. This means that your body’s own immune system is stimulated to attack and destroy your beta cells (that are located in the pancreas). The beta cells are responsible for producing insulin which is the hormone that regulates the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. If you are a diabetic with type I diabetes then you will not be able to regulate your blood-sugar level because you will not be able to produce any insulin due to the auto-immune destruction of your beta cells.
