Pollens can be any grain like substance released by plants that generally tend to cause hay fever. These grains are the basic male reproductive units of the plant world. When pollen becomes airborne, it will hopefully circulate until it lands on a female counterpart thus causing fertilisation and the subsequent reproduction of the plant. Unfortunately, many individuals find that their immune system is hypersensitive to these airborne particles. When they are breathed in and enter the airway system the immune system goes on red alert and an allergic hay fever reaction will ensue.
