Implications of Premature Ejaculation

Psychological implications

The presence of PE is often associated with negative psychological effects on men and their partners.  Men may suffer performance anxiety and depression experiencing an overall reduction in quality of life.  Single men may feel unable to form new sexual relationships with people due to their feelibehavioural-changes-as-treatment-for-premature-ejaculationngs of inadequacy and can be less likely to initiate intercourse with current partners.  A “catch 22” situation can result where poor performance due to PE leads to further anxiety about not having sufficient ejaculatory control.  In turn this leads to further problems and can make your PE worse.  Significantly, the negativity that surrounds PE can make men reluctant to approach their health care provider about treatment.

Physical implications

Rarely your PE may be so severe that ejaculation occurs before being able to enter the vagina.  This may lead to problems in your partner becoming pregnant and should be discussed with your health care provider.
