How expensive are breast implants?

In the UK, the average cost of breast enlargement surgery is around £4,000, but can be as high as £7,000. This usually includes all aftercare and is often payable in instalments. The exact price of the procedure will vary depending on the clinic and surgeon you choose, what kind of implants you have, and so on. It is also best to be prepared for the possibility of further surgeries should complications occur or your implants need replacing. It is also possible to have breast enlargement surgery paid for by the NHS under certain circumstances: to qualify for this you would need to be able to show that the appearance of your breasts is causing “significant psychological distress”, such as if you have underdeveloped breast tissue, or severely asymmetrical breasts. If you think you may qualify for this, discuss it with your GP, who may be able to refer you to a surgeon or cosmetic surgery centre. In the case of women who have had breasts removed due to a mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, possibly involving implants, is offered for free on the NHS as part of the breast cancer treatment.
