Smart Lipo or Lipo Smart

This was the first laser liposuction machine to be used, and is specific to the bursting of fat cells under the skin.  This is still a very popular form of liposuction, as the use of the laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), enables greater precision and less damage to any tissues that surround the fat cells. With traditional use of Smart Lipo about two fistfuls worth of fat cells could be removed without any additional suction, making it ideal for small areas of the body that you might want treated, such as the upper arms, chin, hips, upper thighs, back, neck or breasts.  Slight improvements have been made to the technique, such as using absorption tools to remove the fat cells rather than leaving the body’s immune system to shift them alone, and by increasing the amount of pulsation, allowing the fat to burst quicker so that more can be removed.

How Smart Lipo works

You will not have to have a complete general anaesthetic unless you are undertaking another cosmetic procedure at the same time as having Smart Lipo.  Instead a local anaesthetic is applied to the area that is going to be treated.  Lasers are fired into the fat tissue at a rate of 40 times per second, heating up the shell around the fat cells so that they explode under the pressure.  Once the fat cells have been burst they can be better absorbed by your body.  Traditionally this form of liposuction wouldn’t involve any aspiration, (suction), or tumescent injection, and the body would be allowed to absorb the cells over the next 3 to 6 months.  This meant that the results weren’t seen for a long time after the procedure.  As advances have been made, the results are quicker due to the introduction of cannula usage, so that results can be seen immediately and continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months. Changes have been made recently to the usage of tumescent fluids, and now these are routinely used in order to aid the procedure, helping to cut down on any risks associated with Smart Lipo liposuction.

Cost of Smart Lipo

A treatment of one area generally costs £2000 and for more than one the cost can rise to £4000.  However, these prices shouldn’t be taken as definite, different surgeries will offer different prices, and how much the Smart lipo is going to cost very much depends on your individual circumstances and needs.
