Cost of tooth whitening in Spain

Tooth whitening in Spain can cost as little as the equivalent of £60, but be careful not to be sucked in straight away by such a low price. This is a bare minimum and if you do find a clinic that offers a price similar to this then you must double-check the clinic’s accreditation and the qualifications of the dentist you select to make sure the low price does not represent low quality. Typically a tooth whitening procedure in Spain will cost somewhere over £300, whereas in the UK it will normally cost over £500. Consequently it is very important for you to meticulously go over all the price factors if you are considering tooth whitening in Spain, and to make sure that you compare the UK prices yourself. If you are satisfied that you are going to receive high-quality treatment at a reasonable price, and with acceptable accommodation and travel costs, then you are set to undergo tooth whitening in Spain. Even if the total cost is relatively similar to the cost of just the treatment in the UK, at least you are getting a few days’ holiday as well!

Cost of porcelain veneers in Spain

As with tooth whitening, it is possible to have porcelain veneers done in Spain for a pittance. However as the treatment carries more immediate and long-term risks, and as it is difficult to rectify any poor fitting or defects once the veneers have been bonded to the teeth, you should doubly ratify the qualifications of the dentist and the accreditation of the clinic beforehand. On average, the treatment in Spain costs something under £300, compared with around £500 in the UK. Again, you need to make sure the whole ‘medical holiday’ is worth the cost if you are going to seek this treatment in Spain as it can prove difficult finding cheap transport and accommodation at certain times. One factor you must take into consideration is the maintenance of the veneers, and any potential additional costs that you will have to pay either to the Spanish or to your UK dentist. In the UK these costs are often negligible.

Cost of gum contouring in Spain

Gum contouring can be an expensive procedure. Typically in the UK a patient will be expecting to pay around £400 and upwards for laser gum contouring, and a little less for the treatment done with a scalpel (see the Gum Contouring in Spain section for a comparison). This price can be halved if you elect to undergo the procedure in Spain.

Dentist Specialisation in Spain

Although, as with dentists who provide implant treatment, cosmetic dentists need to have an appropriate degree from a Spanish university or diploma from an EU country, Spain does not itself train specialist dentists. Consequently any dentist who claims to specialise in an treatment , must have received training in a country other than Spain. You will need to find out which qualification(s) the dentist holds and where from, and ratify the legitimacy of this with either the Spanish Dental Association or your UK dentist (who may be able to put you in contact with the institution at which the dentist underwent training). It is especially crucial that you do this with the more risky cosmetic processes, such as porcelain veneers.
