How long will ClearSmile treatment take?

ClearSmile braces are generally suited to patients who have minor or moderate issues that affect the front 10 teeth and they offer a very discreet alternative to traditional fixed braces. These bespoke aligners also work quickly to produce beautiful smiles in just 6-18 months.

Every patient is different and this is why the treatment time varies; some patients require more movement and therefore, more aligners, than others and this makes treatment time longer. In minor cases, where only a mild level of correction is required, treatment may be complete in as little as 6 months; in more complex cases, times may rise to around 12-18 months.

Your dentist will discuss treatment times and give you a projection of your expected treatment time once they have assessed your bite and started the planning process using Archwize technology.

During your treatment, you’ll be advised to see your dentist on a regular basis and they will assess how you’re getting on; if treatment is progressing as expected, your projected time will remain the same. Sometimes, the initial estimate may be very slightly out and your treatment time may be adjusted slightly. Your treatment will come to an end when your dentist is completely satisfied with the new position of the teeth; ending early will only increase the risk of relapse after treatment.

Once you have finished ClearSmile Aligner treatment, you will be advised to wear a retainer, which helps to keep your teeth in place after your aligners have been removed.
