Diet Plans
The marketing of fad diets can lead to a great deal of confusion over what you should eat, and many people are confused by which diet is best for them. A large review of 203 diet studies in the United States concluded that no particular individual weight loss diet plans worked better than any other, so long as the amount of food eaten was generally reduced. Types of weight loss diets include:
- Low-carbohydrate diets
- Low-fat diets
- Low-calorie diets
Other kinds of weight loss plans exist, such as dieting with cognitive therapy, and weight loss through athletic training. None of these diets have the “right answer” to weight loss, but they are systems which help people to think about the way they eat, and provide themselves with nutrition that suits their body and lifestyle. One highly effective weight loss study showed that simply keeping a food diary led to twice as much weight loss as those who were not required to write down their eating habits. This show that significant changes in habit can be achieved with good knowledge, a bit of time and committed effort.
