Hair Transplant Scabs

Scabs after a hair transplant are perfectly normal. Hair grafts are inserted into pinpoint sized holes across the skin. As these holes heal from the trauma of being incised, often with small needles, the blood coagulates around the hairs and holds them in place while simultaneously creating a small scab around the follicle. These scabs should last for about three days, after which they will begin to fall off. It is fine to wash your head, even with scabs, as normal after the first couple of days. Once the scabs are gone, the hairs will fall out from the trauma of the transplant experience, but in about three months they will begin growing again as natural, normal hair and any marks still left from the initial incisions will be covered by the new hair.
