Dental CCST - Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training
In order for your dentist to complete any specialist treatments they need to have had training in the relevant areas. This can be proven by a CCST certificate, and only dentists who hold the relevant training can call themselves a specialist.
Examples of specializations include:
- Pediatric dentistry – Dental treatments for young people
- Oral Surgery – Surgical techniques for the mouth
- Orthodontics – Correction or prevention of tooth irregularities
- Periodontics – Treatment of gum problems
- Endodontics – Treatment of disease or impact onto the dental roots or pulp
- Prosthodontics – Implants, dental crowns and other fixtures to replace missing teeth
- Restorative dentistry – Restoring problematic teeth so that they function properly
- Dental public health – Prevention of disease and education of the public
- Oral Medicine – Oral care of people with recurrent problems or disease which consistently affects the mouth
- Oral Microbiology – Treatment of oral infections
- Maxillofacial Pathology – Examination and treatment of damaged tissues due to disease in areas such as the salivary glands, deep cavities or tooth roots
- Maxillofacial Radiology –Imaging of the jaw, teeth and surrounding areas
- Special Care dentistry – Treating those who are impaired physically or mentally
