I’m on Benefits, will I have to Pay for an Abortion?
If you are receiving benefits you are still entitled to free NHS care and this includes NHS abortion services. To get an abortion on the NHS you need to visit your GP, family planning clinic, sexual health clinic or Brook Centre for young people and they will assess your situation and refer you to an abortion clinic for treatment.
Sometimes your NHS Trust may not be able to offer a suitable treatment at the NHS abortion clinic and if this is the case they will usually refer you to a private clinic for treatment that they will pay for.
