Cosmetic Dentistry in Poland

Cosmetic dentistry refers to a series of treatments designed to enhance the aesthetics of your teeth and mouth. As with dental implants, it is an increasingly popular treatment for people to seek in Poland, but the prices of cosmetic dentist treatments in Poland are among the lowest in the world when considered against the high quality that is generally available, making it an excellent choice of country for cosmetic dental treatment abroad.

Teeth whitening in Poland

If you are unhappy with the colour of your teeth, one of the simplest and cheapest treatments is tooth whitening. Typically Polish dentists will recommend whitening instead of a simple scale and polish as the results are often more long-lasting. A dentist can use a number of different procedures to achieve tooth bleaching, but ultimately the idea is the same: the bleach seeps into the teeth and gradually gets to work, colouring stains and making your teeth whiter overall. If you are considering this treatment in Poland, you must be sure of the price before making the journey, as both the UK and the Polish prices can be very low, and you may not be able to justify the total price once you have factored in external expenses (although you may simply wish to pay a little extra for the novelty of being away for the procedure). If the overall costs work out cheaper than a UK dentist, or you choose to go anyway, as long as you make sure the dentist is properly qualified and the clinic properly accredited then the already few risks will be further diminished. Typically you will only experience slight gum or tooth irritation for a few days and then this should clear up. If any other complications arise then you may wish to contact the Polish dentist, but it is more than likely with such a generally safe procedure that your UK dentist will be able to resolve any lingering problems.

Porcelain veneers in Poland

Although tooth whitening is one solution to stained teeth, you may also decide, either of your own accord or after consultation with a UK dentist, that porcelain veneers are a better option. These are shells of material that resemble the external appearance of healthy teeth, and are modelled on your own mouth to make sure the effect is convincing. They are also popular solutions for those with crooked or damaged teeth, and if you think you may wish to have this treatment done then it may well prove worth travelling to Poland for it. The procedure for porcelain veneers in Poland is staggered, much like in the UK. This means it takes place over a series of appointments. One consequence of this that you must consider is the accommodation cost of an extended stay, as it is advised by the dentists not to leave the country in between each appointment. If you do decide to seek porcelain veneers in Poland, then the first appointment will be a consultation. This is important as it may transpire that you need to have gum work done before the rest of the treatment can proceed; in this case, this will happen in the next appointment. It is important for the effectiveness of the treatment that your gums are in good condition. The next time you visit the Polish dentist, a small amount of the front surface of your teeth will be removed. This is done to create space for the veneers, as one of the aims of the treatment is to ensure that your teeth are still roughly the same size as before, as this is proves to be a more aesthetic result. At this stage the dentist will take an impression of your teeth, so he or she can then set to work on creating veneers of an appropriate size and shape. New layers of your teeth will now be exposed to the air and temperature, and will be far more sensitive than before. You must be sure to brush extremely well at this stage to prevent any difficulties later in the procedure; however you also have the option of a temporary veneer, which performs the job of protecting your teeth, at an extra cost. You can discuss these alternatives with your dentist. Your next appointment will be the try-out stage. This means that your veneers will have been completed and can now be tested on your teeth to make sure the fit and aesthetics are optimal. If they are not then your dentist will have to modify the veneers and you may have to return for several more minor appointments until you and the dentist are satisfied with the results. This is crucial because after the veneers have been bonded to your teeth, any modifications are extremely difficult, not to mention expense, to amend. After this will be your final appointment (unless, as in the case of a few dentists, the testing and fitting appointments are run into a single session), in which the revised veneers will be bonded to your teeth. Once this process is complete, you will be left with a sparkling new set of teeth which will last for a considerable amount of time.

What to do after a porcelain veneer treatment in Poland

Once the porcelain veneer procedure has been completed, you will be free to return back to the UK. It is worth trying to get an estimate of the amount of time you will have to spend in Poland before embarking on the trip, to make sure you can get the cheapest possible flights. You will need to make sure that you have fairly regular check-ups with your UK dentist to maintain the quality of the veneers for as long as possible. In order to establish the best routine for these appointments you should set up contact between your UK dentist and your Polish dentist, either direct, via yourself, via an interpreter or via the medical tourism provider. This way you can ensure that the overall effect of the treatment is as good as possible, and you will also not have to repeatedly return to Poland for the check-ups, which is costly and hardly feasible.

Risks of porcelain veneer treatment in Poland

The risks of this treatment are no different in Poland, provided you find an appropriate dentist and clinic, than anywhere else. The major problem is that the veneers are irreversible. Any problems that may arise cannot simply be removed by working the procedure backwards and whichever dentist you approach with the problem will have to attempt other expensive and potentially dangerous procedures. You should know that porcelain veneers will deteriorate over time, and consequently the check-ups to delay this process are crucial for a longer-lasting aesthetic smile. Furthermore any sort of impact could potentially shatter or damage the veneers, so you must take extra care once they have been fitted.

Gum contouring in Poland

Gum contouring is a highly effective solution to the problem commonly known as the ‘gummy smile’, i.e. an excess of gum tissue around the mouth which can be considered unsightly. Consequently this condition can prove detrimental to a person’s self-confidence, and so a cosmetic treatment to remove the excess tissue is often very desirable. The reasons for the ‘gummy smile’ are various and can derive from genetics, blood pressure and health issues. Fortunately the gum contouring treatment is virtually painless and has a long-term effect on the aesthetics of the mouth and the self-confidence of the patient. Should you consider travelling to Poland to have the gum contouring treatment, you may find it reassuring that the procedure is extremely similar if not identical to that offered in the UK, with the advantage coming in the lower price. Prior to having gum contouring, your dentist may have to remove some bone – this will come at an additional cost, but is necessary to ensure the success of the procedure. In the main treatment local anaesthetic is applied to the target area of gum, and then the gum is surgically trimmed and reshaped to an aesthetically pleasing standard using either a scalpel or laser – which is used is up to the discretion of you and your Polish dentist. In Poland you will almost invariably be offered laser treatment, as this reduces recovery time by sealing blood vessels by heat as it operates. Once again as this is a cheap treatment if done in Poland, yet still relatively cheap in the UK, you may find it worthwhile to weigh up your options with the costs of travel and accommodation. The few risks that can manifest themselves are extremely uncommon, especially if the dentist you choose is proven by merit of his or her qualifications. If the dentist is not properly qualified or educated s/he may remove excess amounts of gum, which is dangerous and can be costly to remedy, so it is critical that you do not allow for this kind of malpractice.
