The recovery from Restylane Sub Q is generally a simple process. As the procedure is a non- invasive treatment it is unlikely that there will be any serious side effects, although, as with any medical treatments such as this, there is still a very slight chance, so make sure you are fully aware of all the potentialities before you undergo your treatment.

Recovery Immediately after Restylane Sub Q Treatment

Immediately after being injected with Restylane Sub Q you should follow the directions of the practitioner. They may tell you to sit still for a period of time so that you do not interfere with the results of the Restylane Sub Q. During this time you should try to stay as still as possible and relax. If you do not need to do this, or once this period has finished, you will be allowed to leave the clinic. Before doing so you will be given the opportunity to see the results of the Restylane Sub Q in a mirror. You will be able to notice some immediate changes in your appearance. If these are not as dramatic as you expected, you should not be concerned as the final results will not appear for up to six weeks.

When you leave the clinic you may begin to notice some redness over and surrounding the treatment area. This is a normal part of the process and should not alarm you. You may also feel some discomfort and tenderness on your face, this is usually mild and you can control it with over the counter pain killers if necessary. The redness and tenderness may be accompanied by swelling. This will go down within a few days and should not worry you. If you experience any itching you should avoid scratching the area as you should not touch your face for at least six hours.

After six hours you will be able to gently wash your face with warm, soapy water. You should try to avoid putting pressure on your face for at least forty- eight hours, and should sleep on your back during this period. It is sometimes recommended that you take at least two days off work, but this is a personal choice and the majority of people carry on with their day to day life as usual after the Restylane Sub Q treatment. If you are worried about the appearance of redness or swelling then talk to your practitioner about it, however there’s not really much that can be done. You may be given a soothing cream or gel, but this will not necessarily alleviate all of the symptoms.

Recovery in the Weeks after Your Restylane Sub Q Treatment

The initial side effects of your Restylane Sub Q injections should resolve themselves within three to four days, probably up to a week. Once the swelling and discomfort has gone you will be able to return to your normal activities without having to be cautious of knocking your face or other areas you have been treated. If this does not happen you should seek medical advice as soon as possible to ensure that you are not suffering from an adverse reaction.

Provided that you do not suffer from any complications the recovery period will be complete after around five days. For the next few weeks you will notice the results of your Restylane Sub Q treatment improving and the final results will be revealed after six weeks. This quick healing process and completion period makes Restylane Sub Q one of the most convenient ways of attaining a cosmetically enhanced look.

Once the initial side effects have gone you should not experience any further problems. If you do experience any issues you should seek immediate medical advice as you may be having an adverse reaction to Restylane Sub Q.

As with any procedure such as this there is a slight risk of infection, even if all precautionary methods are taken. If you do develop an infection as a result of Restylane Sub Q injections you should seek medical aid as soon as you notice it. You are likely to be given anti- biotic medication to resolve the infection and the problem should resolve itself quite quickly. You should always take the full course of anti- biotic medication, even if the infection appears to have gone. Failure to do this can cause the infection to come back again, and the longer this goes on, the higher the chances of scarring.
