The results of your treatment with Restylane Sub Q are completely unique to each individual. It will vary greatly depending on what you expected from treatment and what your practitioner told you would be possible. It is important to note that whilst changes will be visible immediately after treatment, it can take up to six weeks for the final results to be revealed.

What to Expect Immediately after Treatment with Restylane Sub Q

It is highly likely that you will be able to see some improvement in your appearance immediately after your treatment. Most people do see an immediate change, and are delighted to see the transformation at such an early stage. You should not be concerned if you are not completely happy with the results at this stage as this is only the initial effects of the Restylane Sub Q and it can take up to six weeks for the hyaluronic acid in the filler to fully kick in and work to give you the results that you desire.

You may notice that the treatment area appears a little bit red after the treatment. This is a common side effect and will gradually go down within the first few days after the treatment. This may be accompanied by swelling and tenderness, which are also common side effects and should not cause you any concern.

You may also find that the treatment area is itchy for some time after at the point of the injection of Restylane Sub Q. Whilst this can be irritating you should avoid touching the area for any reason for at least six hours after the treatment. At this point you can gently rinse the area with warm soapy water and may apply a small amount of make up if necessary. Itching as well as the other side effects is nothing to worry about, but if they have not desisted after a maximum of one week, you should see your practitioner and they can advise you what is best.

You should try to avoid direct sunlight or intense heat until all of the initial symptoms have cleared up. This should happen within three to four days of your Restylane Sub Q injection. Again, if your symptoms do not resolve themselves within a few days you should speak to your doctor or your practitioner.

What to Expect in the Weeks after Treatment with Restylane Sub Q

As noted above, the effects of your Restylane Sub Q treatment will be noticeable instantly. You may experience some of the initial minor side effects such as redness, swelling or slight bruising, but these should go down within a few days to a week. Once these symptoms have cleared up, you should be able to notice a very positive transformation in the area you have been treated.

As the weeks progress the results of your Restylane Sub Q treatment will gradually improve to the standard that you expressed to your practitioner. This is because the hyaluronic acid in the dermal filler is attracting more water molecules to the treatment area making the skin appear rejuvenated, healthier and adding more volume. You may wish to take photos throughout the recovery process so that you can track your progress and note just how well the treatment has worked for you. After about six weeks the final results of your treatment will be visible, and you will have the fresher, younger and improved looks you have always wanted.

What to Do if You Are Not Happy With the Results of Your Restylane Sub Q Treatment

Most people who go for the Restylane Sub Q treatment profess complete satisfaction with the results, some of them being surprised to discover just how easy it was to attain a brand new look. However, in some cases it is possible that you may find after six weeks you are disappointed with the results of your Restylane Sub Q treatment. If this is the case, you should first reflect upon why you are unhappy with the results. Some factors that you may wish to consider include:

  • Whether your expectations were realistic
  • Whether the practitioner led you to believe the results would be different
  • Whether a mistake was made during the procedure
  • Whether you followed the post- treatment advice of the practitioner
  • Whether the results of your treatment were compromised by the price that you paid

If you come to the conclusion that you were misled as to what could be achieved from Restylane Sub Q treatment, or that the practitioner made a mistake during the procedure that has compromised your results, you should speak to the practitioner about it. You should explain to the practitioner why you are disappointed and what you feel they should have done differently. They may offer you further treatments at a reduced cost. However, unless a serious mistake was made they are not obliged to do anything, as the treatment was optional and you went into it aware of the risk of disappointment.
