Contraindications for Diarrhoea Pack
Dioralyte, one of the treatments available in the Diarrhoea Pack, should not be taken if you have one or more of the following conditions: phenylketonuria (a genetic condition where the body cannot process the amino acid phenylalanine, which is found in foods which are high in protein), intestinal obstruction which requires surgery, severe renal or hepatic impairment (liver failure). However, there are other conditions which may prevent you from taking Dioralyte, so consult with your doctor first.
Another treatment in the Diarrhoea Pack is Buccastem. You should not take Buccastem if any of the following conditions apply to you: you suffer from epilepsy or Parkinson’s disease, you are under the age of 18, you have a blood disorder, you suffer from liver malfunction, and if you are breastfeeding or are a woman who is expecting.
Imodium (also offered in the Diarrhoea Pack) has some contraindications. You should not take Imodium if: you have hypersensitivity to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the excipients (inactive ingredients in the medicine), you are under the age of 12, you have acute dysentery (symptoms include a high fever and blood in the stool), or if you suffer from acute ulcerative colitis, bacterial entercolitis or pseudomembranous colitis.
Ciproxin (the antibiotic in the Diarrhoea Pack) should not be taken if you have a hypersensitivity to: Ciprofloxacin, any antimicrobial agents of the quinolone class, or any other components of the medication.
The above lists do not include every possible contraindication and before taking any of the above medicines you should consult your doctor about possible side effects, contraindications or reactions with other drugs. This is especially necessary due to the amount of treatments which are offered in this one pack. Check the ingredients and then consult with your doctor if you are still unsure.
