Advantages of NuvaRing
NuvaRing Contraception »
- it can be inserted by you with no medical training or assistance from medical professionals required
- it is highly effective, comparable to the intrauterine device (IUD or coil) and more effective than oral contraceptives
- no painful injections, implants or intrauterine device (coil) insertion required
- does not interrupt sexual spontaneity, does not affect intercourse
- you may also use spermicides and lubricants
- you do not have to remember to take a pill every day
- the hormones are released slowly into the area where they are needed and therefore lower doses can be used than have previously been added to oral formulations
- it has a steady release compared to the pill for instance and fewer reports of breast tenderness and nausea
- illness such as vomiting and diarrhoea won’t affect the absorption of the contraceptive into the blood as absorption takes place in the vagina/reproductive system not the gut
- less breakthrough bleeding occurs, may reduce excessive or heavy bleeding and/or painful periods (menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea)
- is quickly and easily inserted or removed
- it is easily reversible; whereas other methods may be irreversible or require several months after discontinuation until fertility returns to normal
