If you are unhappy with your facial appearance but don’t know what to do about it, it is best to research different types of facial treatment thoroughly so that you can make the best possible decision for your complexion. One of the treatments that works on the same area as Juvederm Ultra is wrinkle relaxing treatment. This is more commonly known as Botox.

There is quite a difference between these two treatments as they work by different mechanisms to create a smooth appearance. Juvederm Ultra is an injection of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the skin. It replenishes the skins supplies and rehydrates the skin so that it does not look as wrinkly and paper thin  as before. It is used to get rid of the lines that still appear when you are not moving any muscles in your face by adding volume to the area.

Wrinkle relaxing treatments such as Botox work in a different way. They contain botulinum, which is a bacterial toxin that is able to work on the muscles on the face. It paralyses the muscles so that they are relaxed and do not cause the wrinkles or lines upon the face.  The major difference between the two treatments is that Juvederm Ultra is injected into the skin whereas Botox is injected directly into the muscle so that it can have an affect.

Both these treatments have the same time frame in terms of results. Botox will last for at least four months or more and Juvederm Ultra can last for up to a year. Both have an effect on the wrinkle lines and contours of the face so that your skin appears refreshed and younger. However, Botox is not a natural substance found in the body and can be dangerous  if not injected properly. It is also more prone to side effects than Juvederm Ultra because your body is not used to the botulinum toxin as appose to the hyaluronic acid.
