Can Children have Otoplasty?
Find Cosmetic Surgery Clinics »
Otoplasty is actually most common for children rather than adults. Often parents want to get their childrens’ ears fixed at an early age so that they can avoid bullying or ridicule in the playground. The operation can be conducted after your child is 5 years old, and is normally done between the ages of 8 and 14. Your child will be placed under a general anaesthetic rather than a local, however, so there is less stress and also less movement throughout the operation. Sometimes children are reluctant to have surgery, and so it is up to the parents to decide whether or not they should put their child through the surgery.
