What is Hyaluronic acid and is it safe?

Hyaluronic Acid found in Teosyal products (also known as Hyaluronan or Hyaluronate) is a natural agent found in the body.

The average person has around 15 grams of Hyaluronic Acid present in the body at any one time and plays a big part in skin function. Being able to absorb a substantial multiplication of its own weight in water, it works to hydrate the skin. As we get older, the amount on Hyaluronic acid in our bodies naturally decreases. This can be sped up by over exposure to UV and UVB rays as well as lifestyle choices such as smoking and drinking. This results in progressively dryer, more fragile and slightly saggy appearance, something which is inevitably seen in everyone as we get older.

The way that the Teosyal injections of Hyaluronic acid work is to inject almost a top up of the product found naturally in the body needed to smooth out wrinkles and add volume under the skin. Different people use this for different things. For some people, just the wrinkles in the hands are sufficient, but others have benefited from Teosyal in a total remodelling of the face or lips.

Due to the temporary effects of Hyaluronic acid, it is also a common ingredient in certain skin-care products, especially anti-wrinkle creams. Hyaluronic acid is present in Teosyal’s own brand of cosmetic products and through on-going use has been noted to noticeably reduce the appearance of fine lines, marks and wrinkles. Obviously though the most dramatic and rapid effect is achieved through the injections.

Because the Teosyal injections are 100% Hyaluronic acid based, it makes the injections one of the most natural ways to achieve substantial cosmetic improvements. As with the natural Hyaluronic acid found in our body though, the effects are not ever-lasting, and if you want to keep up with the new, younger looking you, then it will require a commitment to on-going treatments. In the long run, this can be very expensive.
