Botox Training Fears

Monday 13th September 2010

The Independent Healthcare Advisory Service has warned that people with less than half a day’s training could be administering the facial filler botox to unwitting patients. The regulator claims that lack of stringent regulation is allowing beauty therapists and hairdressers to carry out the wrinkle filling procedure without proper training. Health experts are concerned that lack of surgical training could jeopardize patients’ health and may explain why over 50,000 people undergoing the procedure experience post-surgical complications including drooping eye lids and lumps.

The Advisory Service has now launched a website listing medical professionals qualified to carry out the cosmetic procedure. Health care experts hope that the listing will help people considering cosmetic surgery to carefully select professionals who are better able to safely administer potentially harmful substances.
