Forgetting a Femulen Pill

With most contraceptive pills, there is a 12-hour gap if you forget to take the pill in which you can take a late pill and still be protected from pregnancy. However, this is not the case with Femulen. If you forget to take the pill and you are more than 3 hours late you will reduce the effectiveness of the pill and you could become pregnant.

Femulen pills need to be taken once a day, every day at the same time in order to be effective. If it has been more than 3 hours since you were supposed to take a pill, there is a chance that you could fall pregnant. As soon as you realize, take the last missed pill and then continue with the rest of the strip. This may mean that you are taking two pills in one day. This will not cause you any harm.

If you have had unprotected sex during the time you have missed the pills, you could be pregnant. You should consult your doctor for advice and if you miss a period, take a pregnancy test to make sure.

Losing a pill

If you lose a pill then you must not simply miss it out, as you will not be protected from pregnancy. You should take another pack and take a pill from there instead and then keep that pack as a spare strip in case you lose another pill in the future. Remember, if you are late taking the pill by three or more hours, you will not be protected from pregnancy.

What happens if I am sick?

If you suffer from vomiting or have diarrhoea, the pill may not have fully absorbed into your bloodstream and you are at risk of pregnancy. Continue taking the pill but use additional contraception for the duration of your illness and for seven days afterwards.
