Lack of Suction with Dentures

Find UK Dentists »

Lack of suction with dentures can be caused by a dry mouth and can also be affected by certain medications. Age can shrivel your gums, as well as the roof of your mouth, meaning that the dentures are unable to grip in a suitable way without intervention from your dentist. Sometimes putting pressure on the dentures (biting down hard) can cause lack of suction in the top denture. Remember that while the bottom denture is helped to remain in place by gravity, your top denture may require additional adhesive help with age.
