Ultrasonic-assisted Liposuction (UAL) Risks

All surgery contains a certain element of risk, and it is up to you to make sure that you are properly informed and can plan to minimize these.  UAL can generate heat as a side effect of the energy being produced.  As a result of this burning is a risk within UAL, sometimes skin can be burnt, which in turn might scar.

Your surgeon, if experienced, will know how best to avoid this but it is still a unique risk of this surgery.  As with other forms of liposuction that use tumescent injections, there is the danger of over use of fluids which can then become toxic if trapped within the body.  The use of a general anaesthetic brings all the risks involved with this, and the normal risks of surgery, such as infection, are also a part of UAL.

There is also a condition known as ‘seroma’ that occurs when the body tries to fill the void left by removed fat with fluid.  This side effect can also be avoided by your surgeon.
