Penile Implants for Erectile Dysfunction

Penile implants are alternative to try and solve your erectile problems if the other treatments have proved unsuccessful. There are two main types of penile implants these are inflatable and malleable.

Malleable Penile Implants

The simpler of these two types of implants is the malleable type which is a pair of rods that are implanted into the two cigar-shaped cylinders within the penis. This sort of implant means that your penis will always be semi-ridged which can be extremely uncomfortable and the penis has to be adjusted when you want to have sexual intercourse. Because of this the more popular of the two sort of implants are the inflatable ones which allow you the freedom to have an erection whenever you want without having to plan or worry about your sex life.

Inflatable Penile Iimplants

The inflatable implant works differently from the malleable one. This implant is made up of two different cylinders which are called a reservoir and a pump. These cylinders are then inserted into the body; they are then connected to another cylinder which is made up of fluid. These cylinders are also connected to a pump which is placed in the scrotum you will then be able to use this pump to create an erection. The pump moves the fluid to and then from the penis to create and deflate the penis whenever you need to.

After the surgery has taken place you will be left with a scar at the base of the scrotum but other than this there will be no outward sign that you have had a penile implant inserted. Some men claim that their penile implants have made their penis shorter; however the newest type of cylinders can even improve the size and thickness of your erection.
